Anfield Road didn't even rank in the top 20 for best european stadiums in a recent poll by Drivers Jonas Sports, however when our new Anfield Stadium is finished in a couple of years I reckon we'll take the top spot from Man Utd there.
The unsurprising news from the survey though is that Anfield has the best atmosphere of any European stadium, once the new anfield stadium is completed that atmosphere will become even better.
Thanks to the design ingenuity of the new Kop, sound will continue to reverberate around the Kop even when people stop singing, that combined with several thousand more Kopites should make for an awesome atmosphere :-)

Well, we'll see. The current Anfield is only really able get the blood up for European nights, and a bigger ground may just mean the singers - few enough as it is - are more dispersed. I believe that there are official singing areas now but the effect hasn't been that impressive.
i think the new anfield is going to be amazing - much better than any other stadium in the world. hicks and gillett want the kop to be the symphony for the rest of the stadium and i think it will be. people will travel to liverpool just to see this cool stadium. at least it will not be like chelsea who get cheerleaders for the crowd.
People will travel to see a stadium? I think not. We had the same guff in Ireland when the GAA opened Croke Park to soccer and rugby. Croke Park is genuinely unusual because of the size of the pitch - much bigger than a soccer pitch - but I doubt anyone now thinks Dublin gets more tourists because people go 'ooh, I must see Croke Park!' The New Anfield (ugh) won't even be able to lay claim to the shrine status of the current Anfield.
It's still not too late to prevent this destruction of our very soul!!!!
Yeah, I can't really see anyone travelling just to see the stadium. As long as we're succesful on the pitch then I think the new anfield stadium will be accepted quick enough and after a generation or so the old anfield will be nothing but a mere memory. I think we can retain a good atmosphere there. I'm more concerned about the possible stadium naming rights, I'd hate to have to rename this blog 'My Viagra' or something, not sure what the wifey to be will make of that !!!
They can call it the Pat Grace's Famous Fried Chicken Stadium (a sponsor the League of Ireland once gloried in) for all I care. We're chucking the history that is Anfield in the bin, so why get all prissy about the naming rights when that is probably 1% more iconoclastic than moving is?
