What's up with Rafa and the Yanks ?

I'll bet nothing at all is wrong and as ever the media are making mountains out of molehills about Rafas weekly press conference earlier today (you can watch it here).

I'm not too sure what to make of Hicks & Gillet press statement earlier on or why they felt the need to issue it, it's timing seemingly prompted by what the media deem is Benitez strange behaviour in his conference. The only thing I found strange about the Yanks statement was that they released it on thanksgiving day (which is as big for them as christmas day is for us).

If there is any problems between them and Rafa, I hope it's not too serious and they can all kiss and make up next month when the Yanks come over to discuss things ;-)

WTF is rafa going on about taking over the england job for, @*$& that. Something funny is going on here.

England job - Rafa is winding up the yanks. He wants to tell them the story.

Its Rafa's way or no way, as it should be. He is the head man around the team, what the fu*k do the two yanks know about football anyway.

If Rafa asks, Rafa should get. IMHO.

Regards,
Darren.

Ok looking at the video seems innocent but you compare that with the transcript I must admit to being a little worried !!!

It's like Darren says, its probably just Rafa posturing a bit, no big deal.

this is like totally huge and you are just brushing it off like its no big deal

I think Mr Benitez will end up walking, once the board doesnt back him he will lose all interest and there will be no chance of him changing his mind. Its very like what happend with him at Valencia.

@Anonymous
We'll see how "totally huge" it materialises. Its the usual british media bullshit. blowing this out, like the way they blew the england team.

We may discuss more if it brushes itself aside.

@Inderjit
i agree.

Darren.

The way I see it is like this. Statler and Waldorf came in giving it loads about spending cash and supporting Rafa and then have to be dragged into opening the cheque-book after Athens. When they do open the till, they hand over a shabby enough 20 million NETT and now they call it 'significant investment'. It's not really y'know. And now they're dragging their heels on handing over more money. If I was Rafa I would be very very pissed off, these yanks are well intentioned but don't seem to want to hand over the dough Rafa needs, despite all their talk of backing him and making an investment. Rafa will be off if this continues, I'm worried despite the fact that the media will of course overblow it...because there's no smoke without fire.

I'm missing this whole Statler + Waldorf thing - WTF ?
But I agree Rafa will go if they dont cop on, Rafa said after the Newcastle game that they just dont get how the transfer market works in europe.
They are clueless on 'soccer' so should just leave matters of the team to Rafa otherwise they will put our club back a few years by getting rid of Rafa.

Statler & Waldorf are the 2 grumpy old men from "The Muppet Show" ;-)
