With our draw against Aston Villa, 2 things became crystal clear to me, one we're definitely knocked out of the title race. Secondly, the harsh reality is that we've now got a fight on our hands just to finish in the top 4 and qualify for next seasons champions league.
As for Rafa Benitez, unless we win the champions league again this year I'd be willing to bet he won't be with us next season. Hopefully the Yanks won't be with us either as if their judgement is to line up the likes of Klinsmann as a manager then I doubt their ability to come up with a decent manager who is capable of leading us to title glory. Apart from Mourinho I can't really think of anyone else who is going to improve on Rafa.

ooooh Maureen at Anfield, controversial sir! The man's a winner alright but God it'd be tough seeing him take the reins. Mind you if he won the league who'd give a shite, I wouldn't.
Then again if the yanks don't fuck the fuck off with themselves, no manager will have any cash for transfers so who'll bother coming under those circumstances?
good bye rafael! He has done good job, but all he can at the club. Hopefully Mourinho is on his way to anfield at the moment. By the way our future looks very bright anyway. Have you heard about our new wonderkid at the academy. This young lad named Lauri Dala Valle plays as a attacking midfielder. 3 games so far and 5 goals. Every big club in europe was chasing this young man so i really think Jose Mourinho will be the best option for job, he can develope also youngsters and give them a changes at upper level. We dont need to spend so much money every year, cos we have a talent at the reserves and academy. So i really would like to see Jose near the liverpool bench!.
@terence - true maureen would be controversial, but i cant think of any other candidates who would be any good
@anonymous - i've certainly heard of dalla valle, i did a wee article on him ages ago, but people still comment on it, updating on his progress in the youth sides, he does really sound like a prodigy. But i think Rafa has tempted a few other prodigies to anfield also, shame it'll most likely be some other manager who profits from his work !
I think the big problems came from the player itself not the Boss. He did a great job. But yeh, Rafa might be wrong on his player selection. Liverpool only have one good striker but the rest are rubbish to me (kuyt, voronin and crouch.) Whatever it is, i don't think Maureen can rebuild the team as he did in Chelsea. Its totally diffrent! They juz lack of motivation.
I had become so used to your optimism and backing of Rafa and our championship credentials this season (even when most others were putting us down) that now that you have finally given up on the league I feel like the league has already finished a few months early.
Like you said recently if we finish 20 odd points behind the winners there is no way Rafa can stay. Its all quite sad really.
Did anyone read Steven Kelly (liverpool fanzine editor) who writes a column for the Irish Examiner.
I always find it an excellent read but can't find it online on their crappy website...
Basically questioning the unswerving support on the Kop for Rafa when he has bought alot of players and never come within an asses roar of a league challange. Domestically, I have to say, maybe lack of money isn't rafa's problem, I think his football approach will never work in the Premier league and Rafa's too stubborn to change.
