As a wee kid in the 80s, Ian Rush was my favourite player for Liverpool (king kenny rocked but Rush is the one I tried to imitate on the playgrounds). I mention this only because I found myself trekking down memory lane today after I heard some very surprising news today that Rush has accepted a coaching role with the Malaysian national football team.
I don't mean that in a bad way, I've some very fond memories of living in Malaysia & Singapore for a year in the mid 80s, the only problem at the time though is that I couldn't watch my beloved Liverpool play :-(
It's a sign of the times now with the globalisation of football, that in both those countries Liverpool have such a huge following, in fact 16% of visitors to 'My Anfield' are from those countries, so welcome folks :-)

rush to coach malaysia.... good news for malaysian like me.. so boring to watch my national team cant compete even in south east asia.. hope this will be reality.. Malaysia Boleh!! =)
same here.hope malaysia strikers will improve a lot with the coaching of the legend
