Mascherano & Aurelio (who would have thought!) were our best players, but the rest of the team didn't bother their arses to perform, all that recent confidence we supposedly acquired went flying out the window.
Reina despite some excellent saves was clearly at fault for 2 of their goals, I'm not saying it was his fault we lost the game, nor was it Mascheranos fault we lost. Stevie G has been a 'legend' for us over the years but that's mostly against the 'small teams', he has an alarming tendancy to disappear against the big teams (in particular against ManUre), for every good game he has against the big boys he has several bad ones against them too.
It's a shame the team usually falls apart against ManUre, it's like we suffer from some sort of collective mental block. We should be good enough but we're not.

That was such a depressing game, we were destroyed, there was no guts or belief in the side apart from Mascher who was really stupid to be sent off.
Sad thing is United werent even playing all that well, they didnt need to cos we were so useless and ineffectual. The main culprits were Gerrard, Alonso, Babel, Kuyt, Reina. I thought the rest of them were ok but you cant play with only half a team :-(
Yes we have a mental block, but not just against United. Against the top four we've taken a paltry 16 out of 69 points since Rafa arrived and haven't scored a league goal against United in all that time either. That quite frankly is absolutely pathetic. It's part mental block but also part silly tactics, poor signings and a negative approach to games that works in Europe but not in Premiership. We eke out chances and goals whereas other teams create and score freely, until Rafa addresses the imbalance (and he never will, too stubborn) then he'll never win us the league.
Absolutely pathetic is an accurate enough description McDanger.
To be fair to Rafa on the signings side of things, he has been under certain restrictions prior to the Yanks arrival, it's only recently that he's had a bit more freedom in the transfer market. Every manager signs the occasional dud.
