I spent most of the season backing Rafa, right up until the very end of January, at which point I said the only thing which is going to restore my faith was an 80 odd point finish coupled with winning the Champions League.
At the time I didn't really think things would be turned around but alas that's precisely what appears to have happened over the last several weeks. I don't want to get ahead of myself as we've got a nasty couple of weeks coming up with Everton and a triple header with Arsenal, a simple little fortnight which could potentially bring our season crashing back down to earth.
On the other hand if things go well, the skies the limit. We're only 8 points from the top of the table and with both Arsenal & ManUre still left to play, there's even a remote chance of a very late title tilt ;-)

Still mathematically possible for a title tilt

You are living in dreamland if you think we have even the slightest chance of winning the Premiership this season.
I believe in Liverpool again and I can certainly see us getting the 80 odd points and also another champions league trophy but there is no way both Arsenal and Manchester United are going to slip up and get less than 83 points (which is the most we can get).
Mathematically possible but realistically improbable. If we did it though it would make a fitting Carlsberg ad.
shhhh, this is a secret and your not supposed to tell anyone ...
I would love it, absolutely love it, if we somehow managed to catch up and win. It would be the greatest title comeback ever. Tragically I can't see it happening though.
You're all saying impossible but with 8-9 games left arsenal are abit patchy and man u struggled to kill off derby.
we are 8 points off the top and just need a slice of luck and if those 2 and chelsea draw a couple and lose one or 2 it is possible. I'm not holding my breath but things are looking much better now than the start of this year did.
@jessica, dummy & robbie - ah keep the faith folks, ye never know
@conal mullan - LMAO ;-)
@anonymous - that's the spirit :-)
Paul, its great to be optimistic about our chance at this stage of the league. ManU struggled to kill of Derby, but unfortunately when they struggle, they still manage to grab a lucky goal to win. (ever since the CL final in '99)
Lets just beat Arsenal, Chelsea and ManU in the CL Finish 4th in the league and call it a good season.
... then we can win the league for the next few years :)
@coyar - i know it's highly unlikely we'll do it this season, but i can't help but hope for the best ;-)
but i think the next few seasons could very well be ours :-)
I smile a bit to myself when I see LFC fans raising the possibilities of a late title tilt.
Anyone care to recall when we thrashed Derby 6-0 back in Aug/September and some premature ejaculators had us winning the Prem and were calculating our points haul up until Christmas, and how far we'd be ahead and stuff? Remember what happened next?
We've had seven wins alright but with the exception of Inter, all against teams we should be beating with our eyes closed. We've come down a long way in the world if we're going to get overly excited about wins over Middlescrap, Worst Ham, Jokecastle United and Crudding Ushited.
Through a mix of stifling caution in big games and terrible bad luck against United in particular and Chelsea occasionally, we are ALWAYS pants against the top 4 in the league. It has to change sometime I know and maybe this coming fortnight, but the best I can see on the evidence to hand is us taking a point at Arse and Man Yoo, and Everton to come right back into it if they too avoid defeat against us.
Title talk could look very very foolish in two weeks' time.
And yes, I am the voice of DOOM!!
