Disappointing but not the end of the world

Watching Liverpool set up stall for a draw against Aston Villa was very disappointing. With the quality we've got in the squad (should be enough to cover the loss of Torres & Gerrard), I had hoped for a lot more ambition from Rafa and the lads.

Playing a 4-1-4-1 formation with Keane as a left winger didn't seem like a smart move, and the problem was compounded by bringing on Ngog to play the lone striker role. I would've thought Babel a better option in that role or maybe on the left wing, then allowing Keane to play centrally.

Points wise, we're no worse off than Chelsea or Manchester United. But I feel we missed a chance to go a couple of points ahead of them as Villa were there for the taking today. It's not a great result, and despite the lack of attacking creativity, the performance was still an improvement on what we've been seeing recently.

Think you'll find it was Liverpool who were there for the taking today! Your teams looks bang average without Gerrard and Torres in it, you won't be winning any silverware this season that's for sure.

OK lets start , Robbie Keane 20 m !!!
shame , bring ngog is a good thing the player is young and need to know the the game, but leave babel in the bench and let Aurelio play its the problem ?

I don't think you watched the same game because liverpool were shocking. You have no imagination going forward and other than Keane going through and reo coker tackling him you possed no threat. If any team was there for the taking it was Liverpool! The Daily Telegraph held line was Liverpool hold Aston Villa to a draw which implies we were the dominate side and you came for the draw.

I didnt bother to even watch the match. LFC is playing such boring football these days. The Scum are going to kill us in a couple of weeks. We have had a decade of negative football from Houlier and Rafa. If Riera turns out any good and Torres and Keane click and also Gerrard plays then we should start to see some exciting football again. Until then it will be just the same old shit.

Roy Evans was the last manager to have us playing really exciting football. It was awesome and amazing at times. But he couldn't find himself any decent defenders. If Roy were in charge of the squad we have now we would wipe the floor with the Chavs and Scum.

Fuck sake - Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United - they ALL suffer without their best players on the pitch.

We were missing Gerrard and Torres limped off. Keane has shown signs of his creativity, loved his through ball to Ngog, but he was played out of position today which was a fucking stupid thing to do.

Fuuukin wait till villa come to your anfield, then it will well and truely belown to B6. Liverpoo we absolutely useless today. If villa had pressed the game you would have lost, we gave respect to a team that did not deserve it. If you make top 8 then you will have done well this year. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is a make or break season for Benitez. He has plenty of Premiership experience and spent a fortune on replacing our squad which is now firmly his choice.
I wouldnt even accept him going away to any of the other big four looking for a draw. So to see him do that against Villa is just pure nonsense. We need to be winning these kind of games.

Rafa take note of this. Of the 3 chances we had with Ngog, Alonso and Keane himself. It was Keane who played a part in ALL 3 of them. And he was playing in the centre each time. Please dont waste the £20m you spent on him. Keane and Torres are going to make a great partnership if you let them be. Dont waste their talents on the wings.

A point away to Villa is a good result. Who cares if we are playing shite. Every team has bad spells during any season. So far we have won 2 and drawn a difficult tie and this while we are having a bad spell. That is much better than last season when we were losing games like today or drawing games that we played well in.

The result is good.
The performance is not.
We need wide players.

In 2 weeks time we have to play Manchester United. That is when the real test will come for us. Rafa sometimes makes bizarre choices but ultimately the players must also take responsibility for how they perform on the day.

Torres + Gerrard will be back by then and if the players put in a good account of themselves then we have a very good chance of beating Manchester United.
