It's not supposed to be this way

Things like this aren't supposed to happen for Liverpool. Are we deserving these stolen points we're getting ? Probably not, but our streak of playing crap football and winning continues unabated. And who are the unlikely heroes in all this ? Surely not most of the players who put in an inept performance against Middlesbrough.

Believe it or not, but Carragher actually scored a goal (well, it took a vicious deflection). Also despite having a very quiet game, it was Gerrard who produced a stunning goal in the dying seconds to secure us 3 more points.

It's a good thing if we can get into the habit of winning when off form. But I'm dying to see us playing free flowing beautiful football. It's what I dream about. Although I'd much prefer to see it than to dream it.

I guess it's not that easy to play free flowing beautiful football when Liverpool's opponents are playing defensive and also hard. We need some tough english players to change our soft style sometimes, that's why we needed Barry I guess!

Manchester United and Chelsea have been doing this kind of thing for years. Its crucial to be able to win ugly.
It would be great to have a season like Arsenal did several years ago when they went unbeaten while playing delicious football.
But what is really important is that we win the Premiership any way we can.

Alonso has completely lost it now. He is even worse than he was the last couple of seasons. Maybe that is just because of Gareth Barry. But I have no faith in him anymore. Thank god the Mascher and Lucas are coming back very soon otherwise we would be in a lot of trouble.

@joe - hmmm, i'd have to disagree, sorry. The lads were lazy and sloppy. I don't think 'English' players is necessarily the answer. Just look at Chelsea, ManUtd and Arsenal !?!

@jessica - agreed to a point. Sure there'll be times when we play 'ugly', but I hope we'll play 'beautiful' football too at times.

@trevor - it's a shame really. He was so cool his first couple of seasons.

There was some signs of Keane, Torres + Gerrard starting to get an understanding going. Once that happens we are going to have a very potent strikeforce :-)

Happy days - we just got 6 points from 2 mediocre performances

Manure won the title last year by winning quite a few games this way. So I take 3 points after playing crap anytime.

Alonso was not crap. Decent ball. Sent some real neat balls to Keane that lead to both the chance he created for Torres. Torres had an off day but i guess its the Middlebrough defenders. Wings/wide was really bad...worse i've seen. NO pace no touch no chances. Even middlebrough had better wingers than us. Real shame.

@blitz - torres is someone whom i think none of us can begrudge the odd off day. The wings were certainly an embarrassment.

We only have a few days left until the transfer window closes. If Rafa doesnt get a real winger who can make an attacking impact then we can kiss goodbye to the league. Looks like Finnan might be on his way out which is a stupid idea cos he is much better than Arbeloa and Degen.
