For the curious among you, the only reason why Liverpool didn't display Carlsberg on their kit against Marseille in tonights Champions League game, is solely because of French advertising laws.
Why did I bother writing this post ? Simply because my website analytics tells me that hundreds of people are searching for the answer but ending up at an old post from last season instead (link). So for anyone else who happens across this post tonight, I hope the answer satisfies your curiosity ;-)

THX! I was one of those hundreds :)
I think i was number 99 lol.. i looked at tv n was like eeerrr ok lol
I just thought it was our kit man trying to cut corners by using cheap washing powder & making a hash of kits.. but we had to wear it coz we only brought the one strip by mistake..
I thought Carlsberg had gone bankrupt like xl.com on the hammers shirt over the weekend!!! Looks lik AIG will be the next one to be hidden hahaha!!!
@ anonymous 4: what are the chances of a beer company going bust in a time of financial depression? If anything, they should be selling even more beer!
Other than being overrun in midfield I knew there was something different about us last night but couldnt put my finger on it. So now I know...
@newsnow - glad to be of service
@anon3 - LOL
@roger - it does look a bit weird when they do that kind of thing
same thing last year when we won 4-0 there, was asking myself the same question last night
@red rush - i should've been more on the ball last season and posted about it then ;-)
humm quite a few people who dont know the answer to that? its been happening for years now! too many fans with no real dedication.. have any of you actually noticed LFC also sell the shirt this season without the sponsor? This is for people who do not wish to support alcoholic drinks through religion etc and also for fans who wish to look like the team when in europe when the sponsor is not allowed.
@nick - seems a bit harsh to say that a fan lacks real dedication unless they know the reason why LFC has a shirt sponsor or not !!
Really appreciate your confirmation.
The first thing that crossed my mind was that we had lost the CARLSBERG sponsorship but on the otherhand I said to myself that this happens in France if I had recalled from previous matches played there.
Once again thanks for your post as I was after confirmation.
Haha I assume the same applies in the Netherlands where LFC played without Carlsberg on their kits this week? I couldn't quite figure out why, thinking it had something to do with Heineken being a main sponsor and conflict arising from that. But then I realised that Chelsea had Samsung on their shirts whilst Sony boards were plastered around the sides of the pitch. Thanks for posting!
