Dream debut for Riera

Making his debut in one of the biggest games of the season, I'll admit to being slightly concerned about how he'd perform. Needless to say, the lad was pretty darn cool. Bags of tricks, taking on players, mean shots, nice crosses (well maybe one was off).

He didn't look out of place, despite only having had several training sessions with the team. I can only begin to imagine how much better he's going to get with more experience with the lads.

A whole lot of people weren't thrilled by the signing of Riera, simply because of his performances with Manchester City 2 years ago. I think we can write that off as his bedding in period to the Premiership.

I totally agree, thought Riera had a great game and I can't wait to see what else he produces, if he plays like that for the rest of the season I think he'll be one of the best buys of the season!

He's not the fastest of wingers but he had really impressive close control and composure, I reckon he's going to handle the Premier League much better this time round. Like you say, once he gets more practise with the team he's going to be even better.

I dont want to get too carried away but it was a very impressive debut. Himself and Babel will be keeping each other on their toes for the whole season which can only be a good thing for us.

I hope we can see Babel and Riera playing at the same time so we can batter teams into submission.

I think he`s gonna be liverpool`s ronaldo. He`ll be a magnificent signing this season.Just hope we`ll see the best from him in the coming weeks!!

@raymond - hmmm, i would've thought they'd at least say goodbye and thanks for our money...

@dummy - if he had a bit of pace, we probably couldn't have afforded him, still i'm reasonably sure he's gonna do a good job for us

@roger - i certainly hope so, perhaps they might even both get on the pitch at the same time which could be really cool

It just goes to show what a difference a decent winger can make to the team. He really looks like the real deal, exciting stuff indeed :-)

Forgot to say, I thought he looked a little tired towards the end, hope fitness wont be an issue for him. Want to see more of him, especially for 90 mins, but great if we can bring on Babel (supersub) whenever needed.

Riera gives us what we've been missing for so long. That little bit of magic and an ability to stretch teams on the wings. It literally adds a new dimension to our play. Roll on the Premier League title.

Yes...very good performance. Deserved that standing ovation.

I really hope he gets better because I think he can be a huge success. He seems to ooze confidence in his ability. He also seemed to have had an effect on Babel.

I am amazed that in a game where nobody wants to make a mistake this guy did some cool tricks which probably inspired the team. Its like he showed them theres nothing to fear.

Now lets see how he does the rest of the season but after this game you can see he has the ability to make it but lets see at the end of the season.

My man of the match...because its his debut and to put in a performance like that.

@jessica - the fitness will come, but like you said we got supersub waiting to score ;-)

@ny-ynwa - hope we get to see lots more of his magic, he's a natural winger with the discipline to stay out there

@james - couldn't agree more :-)

@sa lfc fan - yeah, confidence is definitely key, if he maintains that he should be ok, worst case he'll be the next Garcia (misplacing his tricks as often as not). His skills at times were simply exquisite.

With him on the pitch you could see that every player was in his place and had plenty of room. Now Liverpool have width and I think that he will be a great asset to the squad.
