To hear a doctor say that Torres has intense pain in the back of his leg, is not exactly music to the ears. Whether he suffered a strain or tear in his hamstring remains to be seen, but what is clear is that he will be out for at least the next 10 days (Atletico & Chelsea).
Dutch authorities are remaining quite about the extent of Babels ankle injury so we'll have to wait another day or so to find out. Torres is obviously the bigger loss and the timing sucks but that's always the risk with our players when they're on international duty.

If it's only a strain then it only takes a week of rest. The real problem is if they try to rush him back in time for the Chelsea game. Remember last season against Arsenal he was rushed back and look what happened.
bloody internationals i really hate them - every time - torres is the one player i didnt want us to lose
International breaks always leaves someone injured. This is really annoying, and it's always Torres that ends up on the stretcher.
No one seems more annoyed than Rafa anyway, he keeps moaning about the international breaks, and rightly so.
Hope its not too serious. Get well soon guys.
Hope we win against Athleti and Chelsea just like we won against Mancs without Torres. YNWA
@dummy - definitely wouldn't want a repeat of last year
@trond - yeah if i could pick one player i didn't want to be injured it would be Torres.
@abhiram - Atletico shouldn't be too difficult. It's more Chelsea I'm worried about, they're in far better form than United were.
jesus we really have some dumb luck with the internationals :-(
And Torres had started finding his form. He was getting better and this had to happen. I actually don't blame the internationals but our luck. Every player who's entitled with the title "GREAT" has played well for his club AND his COUNTRY. If he has not, he's not recognized as great.
Lets see who steps up. Last time, it was a collective effort. If we win our encounters with Athleti and Chelsea in the next 10 days, i am quite sure we will have a realistic chance of fighting for the Premeiership :). The team has shows determination, attitude and balls to win tough matches till now and they have to show some more against these teams in the next 10 days without Torres and Babel( who was a pretty obvious replacement for Torres in case of injury)
Make or break time. If we can beat CSKA London without Torres then we stand a damn good chance at winning the Prem. If we don't we'll curse our luck and just hope that somehow it all works out ok in the end.
Chelsea are missing key players too remember, and Gerrard is looking miles better than fat Frank as always.
@abhiram - who steps up, is something which I'm looking forward to seeing. It'll probably be Ngog, but I wish Pacheco or Nemeth would get a shot...
Big blow it is, but I guess we can just hope for the best. We beat ManU without Torres and Gerrard for the most part, so.....
YNWA! :)
@azza - I doubt the Chelsea game is a make or break thing, more of a psychological prop (like United). But the confidence in the squad would be awesome if we win. Should we lose, it's still very early days for us to come back and win the Premiership.
@thedropper - I agree completely :-)
