His name is not f**king Keano, Robbie Keane

How nice of Torres to return the favour he was gifted at Goodison Park, and set up Robbie Keane for his first ever goal for Liverpool. It was a pretty cool goal as well, under pressure (both on and off the pitch) yet he placed it beautifully into the bottom corner.

He can't be faulted for his workrate which was impressive up and down the pitch. But what's with that celebration though, it really sucks, wish he had left it behind at White Hart Lane. Get something new lad, we've got loads of new songs for you (link), so give us some new celebrations ;-)

I am so made up for the guy. This is the start of something great. I am betting on that one. Also I think I read somewhere that Keano was only going to do that celebration once for Liverpool fans before making up a new one just for us.

He is going to be a legend for LFC. He already has been at other clubs and for country. His partnership with Torress is blossoming quite nicely. He will be worth every penny of that £20m when we win the league !!!

Thank God that he finally netted. I'm happy that he is here and I am excited for more goals to come. I just pray that he wont be called Keano for much longer, I can't stand that name...

Nothing is going to stop him now and it was perfect that Torres set him up. So cool that they both had inch perfect passes to each other for their goals. These guys will be better than Dalglish and Rush.

Ok now the monkey's off his back, we should see the real Keane, just like what we'll see in Crouch. The goal just shows the quality he has, a one touch directional goal like what he did in Stoke.

No wonder the poor guy could not score because he had a monkey on his back...they should not allow players on the pitch with monkeys on their backs. :-)

Probably one of my favorite goals now because of the cross from Torres to Keano..I mean Keane:-). Brilliant.

That ball looked like it never seen Keane in a very long while and just wanted to run to him to put it in the back of the net.

@roger - hope you're right about it being a one off ;-)

@our keano - going to be ? he already is !

@todd - yeah Keano kinda sucks...

@roberto - it would be some acheivement if they do end up forming a better partnership than them...

@sa lfc fan - what was a monkey doing on his back ?

The monkey was preventing Keane from scoring :-) but now the monkey got off his back...personally I didn't see any monkey :-)

This could be the beginning of something amazing...I personally would of loved to see a Torres and Babel partnership?

The goals last season against Marseille(sp) I could not choose between them.

I don't think I'd want to see a Babel & Torres partnership. Babel is very inconsistent and lazy at times. Look at the all round performance of Keane and you see a far more complete player who can create and score loads of goals, but also contribute to the team defensively.

Don't get me wrong I like Keane a lot and I was thinking Rafa should buy Keane before he did

I know Babel is a bit inconsistent at the moment but I feel that he would have been challenged by Torres and it may have made him more determent?

I would say Babel is a LOT inconsistent. Wenger was a longtime admirer of Babel but in the end decided he wasnt worth the effort. They watched him more than we did. Wenger has a history of spotting talent but he saw that despite ability he lacked the mindset to make it in the Premier League.

I'll bet that Babel will be gone next season. We've got some highly talented and hungry kids like Pachecho about to break through, and they will help push Babel out the door. Plus next season the transfer funds will be on wingers and wingbacks because we're covered everywhere else.

@sa lfc fan - I'd love for this to be the beginning of something amazing plus I believe it will be (granted I can be prone to be overly optimistic about certain things, but this is LFC, so why not).

@dummy - I wouldn't be too harsh about Babel, he's still very young and a work in progress, I'm sure we'll get to see more of him. He's an incredibly talented player, but yes his level of consistency is something in need of improvement.

Its great that Robbie Keane has stopped spanking his monkey and started scoring goals instead ;-)

I think you're being a bit harsh on the crowd for chanting 'Keano, Keano'. In the immediate aftermath of a goal people tend to reach for the easiest chant, and it's not as if he's given us much to shout about until now. Whether something better emerges in time (see: Torres) depends on Keane, doesn't it?

Paul Heron said...

@jessica - well we all have to grow up some time ;-)

@deiseach - fair enough, that makes sense. But I do hope something better emerges ;-)

I hope so too. During that pleasant period when I was a regular at Anfield I watched Carragher turn from a player only recognised when he was being abused into one worthy of a regular chant ("he's Scouse, he's sound, he'll twat you with a pound"). It definitely created positive feedback.

@deiseach - you were an Anfield regular !?!
Man that's sooo cool. I'm one of those poor souls who has to settle for an annual pilgrimage :-(

Moved over in August 2001 with the intention of spending a year there and ended up staying for nearly 5. I probably would have stayed for good but an opportunity arose back here in Ireland that my wife and I felt was too good to refuse.

Going regularly can be a bit of a chore. There are days when I resented forking out ~£40 to have a quarter of my weekend taken up by a group of people who don't care if I live or die. But then I'd get to Anfield and all the irritation would be swept away. I'm sure all sports fans think their home ground is special, but having been at the Roma game in March 2002 (when Ged came back after his heart attack) I KNOW Anfield is the best LOL
