A month ago our form was simply terrible. The international break arrived at just the right time to provide a distraction for the players. After that, the manner in which we beat both United & City is something which has acted as a significant confidence booster for the players.
That should've been a catalyst for an extended run of good form. But alas we're in the midst of yet another international break and this time it's not a welcome distraction. Now that we've got the momentum going, the last thing I think any of us would want is for that momentum to be lost.
But there's no way of knowing what mindset the players will come back in (due to injury, fatigue, etc). All we can do is wait and see what happens to our players over the next week.

Isn't it the same with all the title challengers? It can't only affect one team in particular. To become worthy winners of trophies and championships, all obstacles should be overcomed.
To the anonymous comment :- Who cares if it affects other teams as well ? All that matters to Reds fans is that it affects us. We pay the players wages and have to incur any losses suffered while they are on international duty.
Seems like some people have completely lost the whole point of the article. It's not about unfairness to individual clubs or about who pays the wages.
Seems obvious that the point of the article is that "international breaks have become a waiting game" for fans as we don't know what's going to happen to our players and what effect that will have on our own club.
International breaks always give me the jitters. Here's hoping for the best.
Provided there is no injuries to our core players I dont believe we will have anything to worry about. The confidence in our squad at the moment must be so high thanks to beating the Scum and their neighbours.
Thedropper summed it up nicely with the "jitters". Perfectly describes the way I feel about internationals (except for the World Cup finals which I love).
@roger & @dummy - as long as nothing happens to disrupt the recent momentum gained then I'll be a very happy man
@thedropper & @jessica - damn I wish I had thought of that...
We've had bad luck with players getting injured during international breaks over the last few years. Fingers crossed that all of our players come back unscathed.
As Forrest Gump would say - shit happens :-(
All i would say is 'Time to let other teams worry about us' :)
If I remember correctly, Torres came back injured twice last season after being with the Spain squad. And Steve McLaren pumped Steven Gerrard full of painkillers to make sure he broke that toe properly.
Don't like this..
@mal - bad luck indeed...
@abhiram - lol, as long as we get our players back in one piece then we should be ok ;-)
@trond - maybe this will be 3rd time lucky for Torres ;-)
I like the international break. Following the Reds is like being put through a bloody wringer. Nice to have some R&R
@deiseach - lol, that's a nice way of putting it ;-)
