The mental strength of Agger shines through

Agger might have been a little rusty and it certainly showed at the start of the game against Wigan, but his cock up turned out to be a blessing in disguise. How he reacted to it speaks volumes about his attitude, he didn't hide, he went out and tried to make amends.

Agger truly adds a whole new dimension to our attacking play, no one brings the ball out of defence better than he does. His play which led to our first goal was world class. After that he oozed confidence and strutted around the pitch for the second half.

It seems all the more apparent that we need to be securing his long term future with LFC. I firmly believe Agger and Skrtel are our best defenders and would love to see them form a world class partnership in a few months.

Hopefully this means he will be back now he has got that error out of the way.

A good recovery yesterday but I am still worried by the two dumbos running the club.

Their lack of knowledge about football is already well documented, but this is going beyond stupidity. Surely after last season they must realise that stability works - we need to get Rafa signed up for another 4/5 years - he's building something, we're seeing it now!!!

Come on Tom and Gerry - don't be a pair of dumbasses - get it sorted!

The worrying thing is it takes us to go a goal down before we play with any attacking instinct and conviction.

It is almost like until we throw Rafa's tactics out of the window do we cut loose and start playing a brand of football that looks champion.

Let us not forget that whilst the scoreline is still 0-0 we have churned out some shocking football.

At last Agger is back and we have someone who can bring the ball out from the back rather than Alonso wasting his energies on spadework.

What a glorious sight it was yesterday whilst throwing the kitchen sink at Wigan - only Jamie Carragher on defensive duty.

Daniel Agger remind me of Alan Hansen. With Skrtel out for months, he will provide a very good cover at the back and moving ball forward.

He's an awesome central defender, the best we've ever had. I thought it would take a few more games before his class would shine through but it has started already. Carra will end up playing full back once Skrtel gets back.

Terrible mistake to gift them a goal but f**king amazing and immediate response. So composed on the ball - a joy to watch.

I know he is a centre back and a very good one at that...I would like to see him at left back for 1 game...just curious :-)

All due respect to Carra would love to see Agger/Skrtel partnership?

@dummy - I'm pleasantly surprised he seems to have found his form so quickly :-)

@roberto - that he is, that he is

@sa lfc fan - I reckon you could be on to something there. I've a sneaking suspicion, he'd be really really good...

@Paul heron

Mate, i guess you should write something about us not beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for ages. If you do then we have a good chance against them. Just like the "Rafa has never beaten Steve in premeier league". Cos we beat him. We should not change our winning formula should we? :)

And yes, it shows the mental strength of Agger. Hope he does well both in his attacking and in his defensive duties this week.

@abhiram - if only it were that simple ;-)
