Too many unsettling rumours have been doing the rounds over the last week concerning Aggers future, with Real Madrid his main suitors. It's one thing for a player to say he's happy at a club and wants to stay but it's another thing for the manager to reinforce that.
Agger himself has said that he's not happy with his lack of playing time but he also fully accepts that he has to fight for us place. Although he's got the quality to displace both Carragher & Skrtel, the fact remains that both those players are on top form at present.
Fortunately Rafa decided to make a statement on the official LFC site today, in which he insists that Aggers future [a long one] is at Anfield and nowhere else. If he can back that up with a contract extension (18 months left) then we can be sure to retain Aggers world class services.

That's the kind of confidence vote any player wants to hear, but it's also what most fans wanted to hear.
I didn't realise he only had 18 months left which is a bit worrisome.
Cmon Rafa and Parry. Get the finger out and sign him.
If he keeps not getting his game you can bet he will change his mind and with such a short amount of time left on his contract it would be very easy for him to buy out the rest of it. So we end up losing him for nothing :-(
"then we can be sure to retain Aggers world class services."
I agree about world class, but we're not putting those services to use. What's the point of holding onto world class defense if it's getting frustrated sitting on the bench?
I know Agger has said he is happy at Liverpool, but just about every player says that before he eventually transfers. Hopefully he is happy, and hopefully Benitez is serious when he says he has no intention to sell Agger. He has said that plenty of times, and it's not always the case.
Seen it all before. Once a player is frozen out there is no come back for them under Rafa. Agger will be gone by next season. You can put money on that.
@dummy - yeah, 18 months is cutting it a bit fine alright :-(
@jessica - hopefully he won't change his mind, Carra ain't getting any younger...
@graceland - true Rafa has said similar things before, but he seems far more serious about Agger, at least I hope he is !!
@marcus - time will tell...
