Insua, Dossena or Agger to replace Aurelio

Dossena for all his obvious ability in Serie A, has failed to show anywhere near that level since joining LFC. Which makes you wonder whether Rafa should risk playing him over the next couple of weeks (could be a chance for him to settle), or whether he should consider other options at left back.

Insua lacks experience but has potential and currently looks a safer bet than Dossena. If Rafa were concerned about testing Insua in the Premiership, then why not consider Agger at left back (Hyypia can go centre) who would be more than capable and reliable in that position.

LFC has confirmed that Aurelio will be out again for about 2 weeks due to a calf strain he picked up the other night. Like all Reds fans, I want us to win the Premiership. I hope Rafa makes the right choice.

I feel sorry for Dossena - he looks like someone who is trying - but is having a tough time with it. The other night he made some excellent interceptions but his positioning is still a problem. With some games behind he could turn into a great left back. Look at Riera who was crap for ManCity but the experience did him good. The same could be said abotu Dossena next year. Remember class is permanent and form is temporary and he proved in Italy that he has class.

Dossena just needs confidence and that wont be helped by people not supporting him. His body language shows a player who doesnt feel accepted by the crowd.

@robbie - class is permanent, but a lack of confidence can be a problem. Hopefully the fans will get behind him if he's given the chance by Rafa. If he started performing for us the way he did back in Serie A then the fans will be purring over him. But I also like the prospect of seeing Insua on the 'big stage'....

Like I mentioned yesterday, Insua is the one I hope who gets the chance to impress. Even without experience I think he would put in more effort than Dossena.

why did we sell RIISE? that was a mistake! dossena and aurelio will never be able to replace him! in fact warnock was better than these two

It's obvious Dossenas confidence is low. Gerrard was a true captain the other night by encouraging and congradulating him when he made good tackles. Give him a few games and he'll come good in time.

A blind person could see Dossena is one of the worst players to play in the PL. He will cost us big time this season, more then the 7 or 8 mill. He allows too many crosses. I agree with the person that said he is not fit to lace JAR boots. We were to improve the full backs and let SF go on the other siide. Both full backs and their back up are useless and the obvious weakeness in the team. Time to promote the young guys (cant be worse) or play 4 center backs (DA SH MS JC) when all are fit. What a waste of 7 mil. He is not worth 1 mill, who was the scout, fire him.

If Liverpool want to be a title contender,so better to use Insua or even Agger on the left..these two players are the best for that left post in the absence of Aurelio.How much time you should give a player??He is not performing well at all.Benitez should promote the academy player..when will the academy players make their names??They are not getting the opportunity.Lucas,Dossena are those players who are not performing well at all.Liverpool has players like Nemeth,Spearing,Darby and many more.Why not giving them their chance??Congrats to Arsenal for promoting its academy!!

@jessica - like i also mentioned yesterday ;-) it might be worth persisting with Dossena. Although it would it be great to see Insua given a decent shot.

@mitish - i think we're all a little perplexed as to why Rafa doesn't give the youth players more of a chance, although we have seen some like Warnock, Plessis and El Zhar given various chances over the years, but it would be nice for more to get a chance also.

I'm not the biggest fan of Dossena but if Rafa drops him in the next couple of weeks then we can all expect his confidence to disappear completely.

@dummy - wouldn't want that to happen now !

i think this lad will never become a sucess i wish he would because we all want the best for liverpool, but this lad just hasnt got the basics to be a defender, so i dont think u can say he is class and his form is only temporary until he gets back, because 1. he lets crosses come into the box. basics when your a kid people tell ya stop the cross. 2. he is a left back who tackles with his right foot which i have never seen in my life. 3. his tackles he puts in are so ridiculous like the one against marseille so nearly a penalty. 4. look how many goals have came from his side of the pitch when he is on the field. EMILIANO INSUA is the way forward to sort out this problem.
