Humourous take on Gerrards situation

Not sure what the outcome of all of this will end up being, and I'm sure most of you are sick and tired of reading all the identical media articles about Gerrards supposed bar brawl (although he has now been charged with ABH and affray).

So why not check out The Run of Play [click here] for a humourous take on the proceedings, it certainly makes a break from the norm.

I bet Rafa is going to be well pissed with Stevie over this one (not just the fight but also partying late at night when he was supposed to be up early for training the next day). I would even go so far as to suggest that Rafa might start giving Stevie the cold shoulder again.

I am just relieved he wasnt charged with GBH cos he would have spent the rest of his playing career years behind bars. Havent a clue how serious ABH is. Maybe he just might end up having to wear a tag similar to Pennant did a few years back.

@Jessica

There is nothing humourous about this situation at all

ABH is WORSE than GBH

ABH = ACTUAL BODILY HARM

GBH = GRIEVIOUS BODILY HARM

lets hope the judge doesnt throw the book at him.

This is the last thing we need hanging over him.

GBH is far worse than ABH, check out wikipedia for full explanation. The problem though is that if Gerrard gets convicted of ABH he is still liable to a prison sentence (6 months to 5 years).

Gerrard hasent been charged with full extent of ABH, the lower version, assault OCCASIONING actual bodily harm and affray, you can just be fined for this, somebody with such standing and good record, not to mention an MBE should just get a ticking off!!!

Thanks for that explanation.

This still doesnt answer the question why he was drinking away in a sleazy "nightspot" at 2.30pm. If the thinks that he can rest on his laurels after that 5-1 win against Newcastle he has another think coming.

He should have known better to go to a bar that "attracts wannabe gangsters and Sunday-football hardmen, many of whom would love the kudos of having a pop at a star like Gerrard"

I hope he gets a full bollocking from Rafa and Sammy Lee. Does he want to be George Best or Kenny Dalglish?

Firstly he didn't have training the next day and ABH is not nearly as serious as GBH, but the point is that he should have known better than to be out at 2.30 am.
We dont know what actually happened but i'm hearing the dj was glassed or bottled. I'm certain this wouldn't have been Stevie but he shouldn't have allowed this kind of situation to occur. He should have been tucked up in bed next to Alex.

GBH is worse than occasioning ABH. Never the less the whole situation brings shame on the club and Gerrard. Rafa and co will be furious. The full story may be more complex than we can see at the moment, and Gerrard being Gerrard will naturally be the media focus point.

He will probably get a fine, if found guilty. let's hope he is not.

yes gordon i meant alex curran his gorgeous wife!!
This whole situation is a nightmare in terms of the push for the title...It could be detrimental or unite the club. However, Liverpool FC and the fans will have mixed feelings...Neither tolerate this kind of behaviour and Stevie could be in for a shock wehen he returns to Melwood. Rafa will sit him down and get the truth out of him and depending on what that truth is Rafa will make some major decisions!! I'd not be surprised to see him stripped of the captaincy at present!! Or even worse!!

@roger - unfortunately that's something we can only speculate on, doubt we'll ever really know the truth.

@jessica - hmmm, tagged and bagged, eh !

LFC has released a rather terse statement regarding this :-

Firstly Gerrard is entitled to a christmas just like the rest of us...he was given 2 days off by Raffa and was caught up in a fraca that would suggest to me that he was provoked,probably by a rival team supporter(Maybe Man Ure).
I know he should no best,but do you really think Gerrard would have wanted this himself right now...Such a shame cos most drop the charges straight away but it seems the other party have got what they wanted...Cheating on the pitch and off of it....

my version: shady ManEw or Chelshit undercover agent fixes up whole situation, makes sure Gerrard is present at said sleazy bar, makes an awful comment to him that does warrant GBH, and after getting what he deserves, the already ugly slackjawed agent runs crying to cops about what gerrard did. Mission accomplished: liverpool without gerrard, hough we'll have to see for how long. Hehe

Hi, Hope married life is treating you ok.

I had to laugh at what gerrard said the day before the fight!!!!

see here from official site.

The Liverpool Echo suggested (honest) that the fight was started over the request for a song (ha ha) , was it Trini Lopez's "If I had a hammer"

@thedropper - all joking aside, i really hope he doesn't get convicted at all, a fine would do quite nicely (i really doubt he did enough to warrant a jail sentence)

@topscouse - ah sure, it's keeping me busy (maybe too busy at times). Shame he was 'enjoying' himself a little too much ;-)

With all due respect, its SO obvious what is goin on here, you don't need to be Einstein to figure it out. The dj (man ure fan) was obviously hell bent on sabotaging Liverpool's PL challenge, whilst at the same time trying to destroy the reputation and career of a genuine england legend, probably with the hope of a nice bit of compensation for his troubles....the reports state that HE was the one who started the trouble, by pushing Stevie G in the chest, so as far as i'm concerned, what followed was self defence.....i mean, who in their right mind would think of starting a fight with a sporting legend???Thats just insane, unless your a low life, poor disgruntled man ure fan with a chip on your shoulder....jealousy is a nasty thing.....
