Insua could become our first choice left back

It has become clear that Insua has the potential to be so much more than an understudy to Aurelio. His accomplished performances against Blackburn, Arsenal and Bolton have shown that he's well on his way to becoming our first choice left back. At the very least his performances merit many more games.

He's got both an acute defending & attacking nous, which is complemented by his pace, skill, passing and shooting abilities. Even against Arsenal, he didn't look out of place, fitting in perfectly (man of the match performance). If he continues in this vein of form, Aurelio could well see himself sitting on the bench when he returns from injury.

A youngster coming good, that makes a change.

Lad works hard and shows determination and great skill. I would like to see some other youngsters coming in.

What about Plessis? Let's hope he's given some more playing time in the middle with our maestros SG and Alonso.

Have always thought highly of him hes class and rarely does he just play needless long balls to the strikers always trying to get it down and play i think we havent seen much attacking from him but that will come with more games and confidence another youngster id like to see in the first team is NEMETH i rate him really highly and i think hes better than NGOG at the minute i know hes been injured but i thought this would be his year :) carry on the good insua!

I'd also like to see Nemeth

He has been doing ok. but he still hasnt really came up against a right sided midfielder of any real quality.

@squirrel - rumour had it that Plessis thought he had made it last season and was discouraged by his lack of playing time this season that he's now stopped putting in enough effort at reserve level. I hope it's more a case of poor form, and that he'll come good again.

@erwinus - it would be interesting to see Nemeth given a shot, but I reckon the next youth striker to get a chance is more likely to be Pachecho next season.

@conal mullan - he easily handled the pace of Sagna and the sheer skill of Nasri, which is not a bad starting point.

I watch the reserves a lot. I think Darby, has a great chance of becoming our number 2 at right back, although with Carraghers last two performances there ironically both against Bolton maybe he should be first choice when Skrtel is back!! On Insua though he was always going to make it people have to remember he is only 19 which is young for a player anywhere but especially in defence. He is quality.

I think Adam Hammil will do great when he comes back from loan. He'll be just what we need on the wings. Like a much-better Benayoun.

Insua has been such a revelation for us this season, for such a young player he's settling in very quickly. The boy has world class potential written all over his performances.

Carra (Arb/Darb), Skrtel;Agger (Hyp-Carra), Insua (?)
My dream back 4 for now. Insua and Carra were class against Bolton.

@cb - Hammill is one player I'm dying to see given a chance at LFC.

@dummy - there is something about him, world class, maybe, it's way too early to say, but in another couple of years he just might be.

Realistically, from the reserves, there is only Darby who is probably ready. Spearing isn't far away. Nemeth and Pachecho probably just need a bit more growth but there is no doubting there talent. Behind them in the youth team there is some real talent. Adam Pepper looks a cracking little player. Nathan Eccleston looks quality. Few others whose names I can't spell have potential as well. Whatever happened to the big African lad who played in defence? Went on loan with Maccesfield and did a great job. Disappeared.

Godwin antwi you mean? he wasnt that great..i think nemeth is ahead of pacheco in rafas eyes he was limited to appearences on pre season due to him being at the under 19s world cup but did play at rangers! id like to see ecclestone too the guys has pace and skill something we lack in the first team! its the only thing we need on the wings pace and skill and we will rule the prem!!

I thought Insua was brilliant against Bolton and maybe was unlucky not to score two goals as well. His passing, chasing and tackling were first class and if he continues with this form then we won't see any more of Dossena or Arbeloa. He seemed to fit into the team perfectly and in my opinion was the best player on the pitch. Keep up the good work.

we need to start giving the young blood a chance otherwise it is a wasted investment

ScottD, I hope you meant Aurellio and not Arbeloa, because Arby has been playing very well this year on the right.

Insua is a quality young lad, who looks to have a terrific temprement and lots of natural ability. No doubt if Aurellio can get fit then Doessena will be sold on in the Summer.

@si - i agree with you about most of the players you mentioned. Not so sure about Eccleston (if only because I haven't really noticed him that much) and I don't think there's any room for Antwi or Spearing (unfortunately).

@scottd - Insua fits in perfectly, but Keanes brace of goals sealed the MOTM award for me ;-)

@moglie - couldn't agree more with that statement

@dazza44 - shame about Dossena, I had such high hopes for him but if it means that we get Insua in the side on a more permanent basis then that will give the rest of the youngsters a huge boost to know it can be done under Rafa.

dazza44 you are right i meant aurellio, not arbeloa. i always get them two mixed up. i would still prefer carragher to continue at right back though instead of arbeloa. the back 4 with reina look unbeatable at the moment.
