Keane is a fighter, not a quitter

Picture the scene, Mark Lawrence is having a drink with Steven Gerrard last Saturday night. Gerrard informs him that he has the same agent as Robbie Keane, and confides in him that he 'fears' Keane could be on the move in January. Lawro then decides to disclose that 'information' [embellishes it a little] on the radio, in the papers etc.

Looking at this logically, their agent would not have the slightest clue as to what Rafas intentions are in the transfer market. The truth of the matter is likely to be either the player just expressing his displeasure at his lack of playing time, or perhaps it's just the ramblings of a controversial media pundit.

It would be fair to say that Keane has yet to settle with Liverpool, but with his proven history, I doubt Rafa would really consider shipping him out so soon. Plus I doubt Keane wants to leave his dream club so soon either.

If you are taking the media at face value then you are a bigger idiot then I thought Paul!

I hope Keane stays. I think has a great work ethic and he puts the team first. In away he and Kuyt are similar - they give 100% and never really get the plaudits. The difference is that everyone expects Keane to light the pitch up every two minutes.
My frustration on Saturday was simply that Kuyt didn't get much luck up front so why not give Keane 20 minutes to see if he could nick a couple. What harm would it have done?

I think the first anonymous commenter is the bigger idiot - it seems obvious that the tone of this article is to rubbish the media.

Keane is a great player and will be for liverpool and its annoying watching the media with all their speculation to the contrary.

Rafa has undermined Keane in a big way. To put El Zar and Lucas on ahead of him against Hull was a disgrace. Here we have a 20 million pound striker with a proven record over the last 10 years sitting the whole game on the bench. Lucas and El Zar have achieved precisely zero combined so far in their careers. It is true that they may improve over time and become good players, but at that stage we were desperate for a goal to give us a 4 point lead at the top of the table. Dirk Kuyt had played a shocking game so i have no idea how Rafa thought we were going to score. Keane should have played from the start or at least the last 30 minutes. I am a big fan of Rafa but on the weekend he ****** up big time.

Keane is gone.Keane had a blazing row with benitez on the training ground after the bolton game. The two aren't even on speaking terms now.

@val - i hope he gets it....

@scott d - it was certainly surprising when he went with them instead of Keane, I don't want to read much into it, and will wait to see what unfolds between Rafa and Keane

It's all part of Rafa's masterplan, to bed Keane into the side in the lead up to the second half of the season when Keane historically performs better. Rafa clearly wasn't prepared for losing Torres for as long as he has this season and suddenly the spotlight was on Keane to deliver the goals in Torres' absence. This was never going to happen from a player who scores on average 10/15 goals per season. However, we've needed a player like Keane for a longtime, an intelligent, hardworking player, with Prem experience and great natural skill & awareness.......don't tell me Rafa went and spent that kinda money for nothing!........Keane will be with us in Jan and I fully expect us to all be singing from a different hymn sheet come the end of May. (Meanwhile, for my own protection, I've had to write this under 'anonymous' for fear of any backlashing should my predictions be completely wrong)

Keane will START against Arsenal. Rafa left him on the bench cos he knows by doing so he's giving Keane the kick up the arse he needed. Remember his misses against Spurs & Athletico? Torres woudl never have tried a backheel when hitting it dead on was easier. He got Alonso playing out of his skin by nearly pushing him out the door and he's doing the same with Keane. Look at it this way, if Keane IS in the shop window, won't he play even better for his own sake, even if he hates the manager? Remember Stevie and Rafa didn't see eye to eye in the early days either. I'm trusting Rafa's judgement this time around

I am sick of the absolute nonsense being peddled around , but what makes me more sick is that fans are starting to believe it.

Crouchy took ages to get off the mark.. Keane is nowhere near as bad and he has got unfair treatment.

Hope he has turned a corner with the goal. he has an understanding with agger...come on back torres stevie G is a shadow of himself pining 4 him so badly he missed a sitter from 6 yards!!

Liverpool are traditionally late starters so pick up wins NOW then will worry about the 2nd half where we should explode if managed correctly by rafa,

Not all bad when YOU really think about it

@MediaLiverFools - I'm sure many people are looking at his performance against Arsenal and thinking, maybe, just maybe, the lad will come good for us ;-)
