This Is Anfield... have a point on us :-(

For me, growing up in the 80s, the sign in the players tunnel was something of a statement, almost meant to strike fear into the opposing team before they even got on the pitch. Considering our tendancy to draw our home games this season, perhaps the sign should be altered slightly.

The latest derby between Liverpool and Everton was something of a non-event. Sure there was some serious head banging and also dubious penalty claims on both sides, but it still lacked a certain ferocity or less likely finesse which you'd expect from a 'scouse' derby.

But just when you were wondering where a goal would come from, Gerrard having found himself in tonnes of space, scored a trademark long range goal. It's just a shame Benayoun gave away a clumsy free kick in the dying minutes of the game which resulted in Everton equalising. 'Sick' is about the only word I can think of to describe how I felt at that moment.

I felt sick as well when i saw that goal go in. It was a silly foul by Benayoun and poor defending on a set piece. Somehow though i knew that they would get a late goal from Cahill. We have let a few goals in from set pieces, and this seems the only way most sides can score against us. I though Rafa selected a strong side which was capable of winning the game. Alonso and Gerrard were A LOT better then Lucas and Mascherano were in the middle last week. Robbie Keane tried hard but was not effective at all. Torres should have scored that sitter in the first half, how can you miss a chance that easy? A very depressing result and I really wish Rafa had kept his big mouth shut, coz since his outburst ManUre have won 3 games and we have won none and don't deserve to be top.

Benitez is just as coward as Houlier when it comes to playing attacking football. The only reason we were top of the league for so long was because Chelsea and Manchester United were playing shit. He also made more typical shit substitutions. I am really pissed off that from a position of strength we have now pissed away the league.

well said not only this after scoring liverpool let everton have the ball .It's lethal when the game is on the verge of finishing don't think everton would have scored in the game.We lack killer instinct .On the goal clearly Syrtel let Cahill go you can see the chap was left unmarked probable skrtel thinking he won't score well he did.the refree was clearly stupid he let the game on when there was a foul before the everton penalty claim. He robbed us of a goal i think. We are champion of draw !!

Didn't see the equaliser; I switched the telly off when Lucas came on.

From the moment Lucas came on I knew they would equalise. What is the point in bringing on a player who may well be the opponents best man. Negative thinking Rafa again. We should have gone for another goal, not trying to keep the ball and failing in that.

LOL - I think Gareth has a good point. From now I think I'll do the same. LOL

Lucas, Kuyt and Benayoun are USELESS!! and right now, so is Benitez!! Please go back to Spain!

Bring in Mourhino!!! He knows how to win the premiership! Benitez hasn't a clue!! His substitutions are mind boggling! He's the only person who would continually make these incredibly stubborn and STUPID decisions!

its not because rafa's bullshit tactic but it is because the whole squad is in huge pressure at the moment. they have not winning the league for 18 years and that is something they need to cope up with

It was our inability to retain the ball when we went one up that lost us the game. We reverted to passing the ball from one side of the defence to the other before giving it to Reina to lob a ball long in the hope of getting a breaking ball. We are afraid to control and dictate games. We will not win the leaue with this mind-set. You can win the Champions League by drawing more games than winning but not the Premiership.

Marc, I have been saying that for ages. Kuyt, Lucas and Benayoun are simply not good enough to play for LFC. Lucas gave away a foul about 7 seconds after coming onto the ground, and straight away i thought "here we go again". Benitez is so in love with Kuyt, god knows how he gets a game every week. He has been terrible for about 12 games in a row now. Benayoun summed up his worth with his foul that led to a goal. When will Rafa realise these players are pure SHITE??

Well our team isnt good enough simple keane aint crap hes just restricted in what hes allowed t do and where hes allowed to move to around the pitch...Weve got an average team with a good spine! get rid f arbeloa,Lucas,Benayoun,Aurelio,Riera and his lovechild KUYT and bring in some young skillfull players with pace! Will he though no he wont because he likes average players..Wot the hell bring Anderson back and give Hamill a chance must be better than kuyt and lucas!!U sure hes brazilian?

With Rafa, Lucas, Kuyt, BenOnion.. We will Never win the League. Mark my Words !!! and Rafa should just keep his F**king mouth Shut and show his blaberring mouth's capabilities on the pitch !!!
SAF was sooo right now, Rafa aint handling the pressure of 2nd half of the league being on Top.
CHANCE BLOWN !!!

Look shit happens , it's not like it's the end of the world or anything. We got Torres back now and once he finds his form, the goals will flow and we'll win the kind of games we been drawing this season. It's going to be tight but we can still win the league.

By then it will be way too late. United are too strong for us contest them, at least we've won the most league titles,

The team is not firing on all Cylinders, Alonso, Torres, Skyrtel back from injury and not Match fit. Gerrard playing deep and not controlling the games.

We are giving up too much space in midfield and losing concentration in spats.

Even Rafa being in and out of hospital and his wranglings with the must not be helping.

I bet united are loving this and doing wonders for their confidence.

I am gutted we have dropped so many points at home this season.

Babel is a waste of space, Lucas is not consistent enough, kuyt is not a goal scorer although is work rate cannot be underestimated.

Is this year going to go down as the year we lost our nerve and let United win the title? I really hope this will not happen.

Come on Rafa, get your act together. Believe in yourselves and the fans will back you all the way to the title!

@scott d - well i think Rafa will have learnt his lesson from all that ;-) But it might be fun chasing the title now instead of leading the pack narrowly...

@inderjit - true we had to rely on Chelski & ManUre playing badly, but it was still fun while it lasted.

@kessaven - yup we certainly do lack that killer instinct

@gareth m & roberto - poor kid, almost feel sorry for him, but my patience is being tested

@marc - his choice of substitutions does leave a lot to the imagine at times :-(

4 defenders and 6 midfielders on the pitch? and we still have an unmarked man in the six yard box??
What was goin on?

Why take off both strikers? Everton were comin at us, Torres gave them something to worry about.

REally disappointed in Benitez he threw that one away

#&@%&€# that's all I can say..... What a piss poor performance from Rafa & team, in 12 months time we will be saying 2008/09 that was the season we nearly won the P. league, how bloody depressing. I must admit I still do not believe Rafa is the man for Pool & now he is talking about another 5 years.... Of what? Promises, assurances, lousy tactics, poor team selection, poor stratergies, spending millions on mediocre player, constant rotation, unending controvercy in the press, dozens of excuses etc etc hardly surprising the teams spirit appears to be in tatters. As you can see I am not a happy puppy, had to stay up till 12:00 last night to watch this crap. Bruce (angry South African Red)

@bruce (angry SA) - as frustrating as things have been lately, I'm not gonna throw in the towel just yet. I'd like to think in a months time we'll all be smiling as we're in top form and on top of the league, or maybe I'm just being hopelessly optimistic ;-)

We've been playing negative football under Benitez for way too long. Defeatist mentality doesn't win u premiership titles! If the manager's tactics show a lack of faith in his players' ability to win convincingly, how would our players react on the pitch and wat would the opposition think? "Liverpool is scared! They're getting nervous!" Look at how Everton's confidence surged during the last 20mins! It's crap really.. I don't see Mourinho or Ferguson using these negative tactics on such regular basis..

Hi Paul - I hope you are right & within a month or two I have to say I was wrong. I slept well last night and to-day I am going to try and remove my boot from my broken TV.
