Victor Palsson is set to sign for Liverpool

With the January transfer window opening, I'm sure we were all hoping to see a high profile signing or two take place, but for now we'll have to content ourselves with the signing of another midfielder to strengthen our youth ranks.

Victor Palsson, who turned 18 today, is reputedly a strong midfielder who had a successful trial with us back in October. He's from Iceland, but plays first team football for Danish side AGF. His signing is subject to the successful completion of a medical.

I appreciate there's only a couple hundred people from Iceland and Denmark who visit this blog each week, but if by any chance any of you know anything more about this midfield starlet feel free to enlighten the rest of us.

Here's a photo of Victor and StevieG... it's an Icelandic Soccer News site...

Victor (fullname: Gudlaugur Victor Palsson) has played 10 games for the Icelandic U18 squad.

He's promising but not going to set the world on fire... The negative fact about him is that he's a man utd supporter. Done some interviews talking about man utd.

Him being a Manc supporter is a bit depressing. But there will be no complaints from me if he plays well for us. What is he? CM? We already have a lot of CMs don't you think?

Any idea on the status of the Kierrison (not the exact spelling i guess) transfer to LFC news?

@icelander - cheers for that :-)

@icelandpool - i think i'll agree with Abhiram on this one, if he plays well for us, I won't be complaining at all ;-)

@abhiram - unfortunately Keirrison decided to join Palmeiras in order to gain more experience before moving to Europe, which is probably a smart move for the kid.

GOOD!
Nice to see another midfielder . Let's pack the club with them . Who knows we might find one to go in goal even! Whatever we do let's not get anyone who hovers around the area and scores goals - Heaven forbid we kight stay in contention for the league then !!!!
Perhaps some mid-fielders on the board as well ?

Hi there, I just wanted to point out that his birthday is late in April not 1st January, I don't know where that comes from.

His birthday is listed as 1st Jan '81 on wikipedia...

if it's Jan 1st '81 then he'd have just turned 28.... think we can say wikipedia is wrong. ;)

Greetings from Denmark.

Victor hasn't played first team football in AGF (unless you consider the youth team a first team).

He has just - a week ago - been told that he's to play with the first team when they start the preparations for the season on monday.

He is very talented, though.

@mathias - thanks for that, it might explain what Setanta Sports meant by he had already been promoted to the 1st team (I took it to mean he had already had a game or two).
