An awesome double over ManUre

Before the game, there's no way anyone could have possibility guessed that we were going to come from a goal behind to destroy ManUre 4-1. That's truly the stuff of dreams, not reality, and what makes it all the more sweeter was that we did this in their Theatre of Dreams and sealed the double over them.

The goals were beautiful, Torres equaliser was mind blowing, Gerrard scored an emphatic penalty, Aurelio's free kick was astonishing and left everyone flat footed, Dossena rounded it up with another goal in the dying minutes.

Absolutely everyone played brilliantly in their defensive and attacking duties. Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Hyypia, Aurelio, Kuyt, Mascherano, Lucas, Riera, Gerrard and Torres, those are the names which will go down in history for this truly magical performance. The subs also did their bit.

Fingers crossed this emphatic victory keeps a faint glimmer of hope alive that we may win the Premier League this season. Of course the odds of that are excruciatingly unlikely, we're relying on ManUre to literally throw a few games, but why should we give up now.

Incredible. The perfect end to a perfect week. 2 of the greatest games ever for us.

That was even better than Istanbul. Feels great to really stick to the Scum in their own backyard.

I am absolutely delighted with the result. It was beyond perfect. My favourite part had to be Stevie G kissing the camera. We have a couple of tough games with Aston Villa and Arsenal but I think we can beat them. But its the smaller teams which I think we will continue to struggle against. Unless Utd mess up a few games we have no chance. But I am still on cloud nine.

Yes agree 100%, but all this could be futile in the end.

Losing points to mid table teams in PL could prove fatal and there's no guarantee we could make it next year. Some of the lost points were due to Rafa's selections. Though hats off to the most important games.

I think we failed to sign a good striker or striker/midfielder in January will cost us. Afterall it was clear we did stand a chance this year.

The top teams will strengthen once more and you can see the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Manchester City investing heavily.

yea great week i think what noone is speaking of is how PHYSICALLY strong liverpool were. And how we were patient with United Even after being one goal down.Rafa has installed the never say die attitude we once had.If he chooses to play like that Rafa will win us the league.Just go out there and attack attack attack the opposition with some additions i think we'll be hard to beat next season. At last Rafa is seeing what ever liverpool fan want to destroy the oppostion with sheer class, stamina and style!!

@roberto - that they were, that they were :-)

@the bosphorus - i wouldn't go quite that far meself, it was awesome, but it would take something even more special to top Istanbul.

@zoran - yeah I was surprised when he planted the smacker on the camera, twas cool how it left a mark on it also ;-)

Fantastic - what a great game to watch - Torres is a GOD.

Also Vidics 3 game ban could count in our favour.

This could turn out to be one of the greatest comebacks ever if we win the league. We still have a chance.

We must be the most feared team in Europe right now. No one at home or abroad will fancy their chances against us after this week. We're the form team and we've got both our best players fit which will scare the shit out of anyone who plays us. I'm still wearing a massive smile after yesterdays match.

Look this was a really great game but it will mean fuck all if we dont win the Premiership.

We have an excellent chance of winning the Champions League but I have already given up on the Premiership.

Does anyone have any links to the goals ?

@marcus - i hope Vidics suspension will cause them some problems, we really need them to drop quite a few points.

@simon - maybe, maybe not, mostly I just hope the lads keep up the run of good form, I'd hate to see a relapse to mediocre performances again.

@inderjit - I don't want to give up just yet on the Premier League but I agree that the Champions League is our most likely source of a trophy this season.

It was a great game. Lets take pleasure in that.

Inderjit - "...it will mean fuck all if we dont win the Premiership...". Why this all or nothing attitude. It will not mean fuck all as you put it. We have improved beyond expectations, even from last season. Our record this year against the top 4 or 5 is second to none. 4th to 2nd(assuming we finish there) and challenging is great progress. Granted we have stumbled against some lesser teams but I believe this is down to lack of quality in depth to cope with injuries and drop in form of some key players. I am sure this will be addressed once Rafa gets full control.
Keep the faith my friend, it does not mean "fuck all". It means we are moving in the right direction.

Sensational stuff indeed, probably the best premier league game I have ever watched. The defence worked really hard and we just never gave up. I think it really highlights just important the awesome Gerrard-Torres partnership is to our title chances. We need them fit for all 38 games which probably is not realistic.

If we could get rid of the useless owners and find a new owner (one owner not two like at the moment) that actually has real money and can honour their promises then we should be able to strengthen our depth. With some decent fringe players we could really give United a big scare next season. I know youth is great but we need proven performers who can do the job now, not in 3 years. This is all i believe we need to win the title in the near future.

Special mention should go to Dossena for an absolute cracker of a goal at the end, following up from his goal against Real Madrid. He is useless in defence, but on that form might be bloody good to sneak some goals in the future.

@BornRed - "I am sure this will be addressed once Rafa gets full control" - that's assuming Rafa gets any control, his whole contract situation is taking way too long....

@scott d - i think the whole ownership issue will be sorted out in a few months time when they called on their loan. Wonder what will happen with Rafa though....

Unbelievable, it was only a few days ago that I was saying we had the best display against Real Madrid.

This was far more special and no matter who wins the league in a couple of months, this game will go down in history as one of the all time greats.

Indeed it was the best ever match this season
The most remarkable moment for me which shows how disperate Fergie was when he brought in 3 substitutes on at the same time. As they said, big guns, rubbish. This move cancels his crapy theory that they were the best team in the match. Go figure..
Ugly looney guy Duane Rooney got what he deserved for his ovely feelings.
LFC should concentrate in PL & CL maybe hopefully we will win both or at least one.
What our team displayed on Saturday will surely inspire other teams to enter manure games believing they can win.
I feel Arsenal, Man City, Villa & Tottenham are going to make manure suffer.
Lets hope for the best.

cheers

@roger - damn right this game will go down in history as an all time great :-)

@tawfiq the red - i think Fergie's claims were either a case of sour grapes or he's just trying to keep his players motivated, but surely only an idiot would really believe they were the better team.
