Can you believe we thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 ?

The whole team deserves praise for the high tempo effort they put in, it was attacking football at it's best. The lads completely controlled the game throughout, and even if the penalty hadn't been unfairly awarded, winning the game seemed inevitable.

You'd nearly expect Torres to be somewhat slow and sluggish after coming back from injury. Torres it seems had other ideas and produced a virtuso performance for us with pace and skill in abundance, but it was his hunger and willingness to chase balls all over the park which really impressed.

Gerrard too, obviously deserves special mention not just for scoring a brace but also his all round play. It's obvious from the way he links up with Torres, that the two of them enjoy playing together and reinforces the 4-2-3-1 formation as clearly being our most effective formation.

It was an amazing and utterly enjoyable game to watch, yet performances like that make our inability to beat smaller teams in the Premier League all the more frustrating. It's obvious the lads are capable of turning it on, we just need them to do it more often. Here's hoping the confidence carries over.

That was a very exciting game and seeing Liverpool play like that gives me hope for this season and next. It was nice to see Spearing get some playing time it would of been nice to get another young defender like Darby on as well but overall amazing performance.

Liverpool played like Benites Valencia team for the first time. It shows what can happen if you have some pace and creativity up front. A repeat performance aginst Manure is in order to knock them off the rails. Looking for Inter to give them a stuffing then us finishing off their season on Saturday.

I could not believe this was the same team that has been frustrating me over the past few months with their poor performance's. Its almost as if they see themselves more as a European team rather than an English one. I wonder what Rafa said to them before the game and why he did'nt say it months ago. Overall the team played really well and I was pleased for Dossena he has come under a lot of stick. Babel again looked lost on the field and except for the pass to SG he looked out of his depth. As for the game against ManUre on Sat I dont think my nerves can take that one so I will record and if they don't lose I'll watch it later.

Its hard to believe that was Liverpool we were watching tearing apart Real Madrid. It was special, very very special. Definitely the best attacking display ever under Benitez.

Torres + Gerrard were both excellent, but for me it had to be Mascherano who was our best player on the pitch. He was immense throughout the whole game. Was also cool to see Spearing get his game and play well and even have his name sung. I'm still on a high after that match.

@jack kelsch - yeah i enjoyed seeing Spearing get a game, as good as he is though, I doubt he's going to get too many more chances unfortunately.

@bruce sa red - you know, I was sooo blown away by the teams performance, that I didn't even notice Babels ineffectiveness !?! Can't wait for the game on Saturday, the early trip to the pub could cause me some problems later on in the day though :-(

@roger - yup, i'm still grinning about the whole thing

@dummy - Mascherano was certainly awesome as ever and is one of my favourite players, but for some reason it was Torres and Gerrard who impressed me most last night.

i will settle for all your lovely passionate comments.. I was happy with spearing, he is way better than zhar & ngog.. Even i watched our reserves match with manutd spearing was great.. Unfortunately we drew and our reserves are wonderfull..

I believe this is our best formation, although i recomend riera in place of babel.. The whole team was great.. I really hope we can win on saturday..

Interesting article on lfcglobe.com, wayne rooney shared his not-welcome feelings towards liverpool.. As if we care.. If he knew better, he should look at his performance compared to gerrard's in england's national team.. I dont think he is the golden boy of england!

I hope to have a positive discussion with you guys after saturday's game, keep the faith and YNWA!

Cheers

Yeah that was a fantastic performance and ironically it was the first time Gerrard and Torres have played together since the win over Portsmouth about a month ago (may be wrong there??). We look a much better team when they are playing together with Alonso as well. It was a very well selected team from Rafa, and close to our best formation in my opinion. Only Benayoun for Kuyt, Riera for Babel, and Insua for Aurelio would be better then that team. I understand Agger is injured, so he would make my first team if fit as well. Its about time we backed this win up with a win against Manure. If we play like we did at Middlesbrough they will cream us. I hope we win 3-0 and Rooney gets a red card, the dirty bastard.

@tawfiq the red - i cant wait for the match tomorrow, just hope i'll still be standing several hours after it ;-)

@scott d - even if we do win, i've a bad feeling we'll just turn around and mess things up in the next couple of games anyway :-( But i won't let thoughts like that spoil my enjoyment (i hope) of the match tomorrow.
