Wow. That was really impressive (not). I can't even single out one player who played badly, as pretty much everyone played crap. Middlesbrough 2-0 Liverpool, doesn't make for a good result, and has pretty much sealed our Premier League fate.
Last week, I didn't want to write off our title chances until after we had played Manchester United, but I was counting on us winning a couple of games before then. The harsh reality is that too far behind them, and with too few games remaining, we've practically no chance of catching them now.

With the way we have been playing it is just not possible to win the League. Our last hope for a trophy this year will be Champions League. Hopefully we will play better there then Prem League. One thing I don't understand is that you can have a player play great and score the winner midweek and not start him but start people like El Zhar before him.
The players played shit but come on - this is yet another fine example of Benitez bizarre team selections. Skrtel at right back and El Zhar starting instead of Benayoun who was amazing during the week, whats with that ?
faith...
that's all we have to keep.
fight till the 38th game..fight till the last drop of blood...be knights
YNWA !
@ binousen - how can you have faith after an extremely shite performance like that against a team that will most likely be relegated and has not won a game for 4 months - YES 4 MONTHS. It was painfully depressing to watch as after the first 30 minutes Middlesbrough dominated us. A front line with Babel, Kuyt and El Zhar was hardly going to do much damage was it (with Ngog our replacement striker - A JOKE). Ok, so some of the players were tired after the big mid week game against Real Madrid, but i still don't think that excuses poor team selections and a woeful effort from the players that did start.
Torres and Gerrard just can not seem to play at the same time together because of injuries and without those two (minus Reina, Alonso and one or two others) we are simply average. We need to start scoring in the first half of games (instead of the last 10 minutes) and we need to spend hours of practice on putting the ball in the back of the net. Kuyt and El Zhar missed two shockers which should have at least got us a draw.
Sorry I just can not be positive after an effort like that - i am mighty PISSED OFF right now.
@jack kelsch - the way we're playing, expect to see both Chelsea and Aston Villa finish above us. If that's the case then I hope we don't win the Champions League. Time for new management.
@binousen - that's the way it should be but I don't have faith in them to fight. Performances have proved that :-(
@scott d - yup, i don't much feel like being positive after that either....
Paul can we think out loud here?
Now who do you think is a good replacement for Rafa? Can you suggest names please..
I was really upset on Middlesbrough match result despite all my positiveness but I couldnt understand the formation we played and the use of questionable players, keeping in mind the loans and selling of certain players, made me mad..
What if we beat Man Utd? What if Man Utd stumple in the league, because they have tough games coming up against Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City & Aston Villa? I think there might be a weak chance of a change of fortunes, lets say, in case its meant for LFC to win the league..
I dont feel that Man Utd can overcome Inter Milan, and if they dont that means their quest for 5 trophies is damaged and this will effect their performance..
I feel that Rafa is on 50% perfomance and decision making ability..
I dont have any good names that will do us any good!
Cheers
@tawfiq the red - well the 2 most popular names which are bandied about are Mourinho and O'Neill, but I strongly believe that neither of them would be suitable.
Mourinho because he's a very negative and overly egotistical manager, without an open checkbook I think he would struggle to ever make LFC succeed.
O'Neill is a great man manager but tactically very weak.
Both of them I'm sure would give LFC a very short term boost (as any new manager normally does on a players psyche) but I think both wouldn't really improve our club over the medium to long term.
I wish I knew who would make the ideal manager for us but sadly I don't and I'm afraid that our owners know far less about who would be suitable.
If I were pressed to make a decision, I'd be tempted to plump for Sammy Lee or Roy Evans.
:( sadness. How we threw it all away.
@thedropper - it's pretty annoying how it all worked out, yet another frustrating season....
We need strikers. We actually don't have another proper striker who I rate apart from Torres.
Ngog had an ok performance today and at least he can get a goal, but atm that's the extent of it. Ok. And this was against sunderland.
Kuyt just isn't a striker. The goals must have been 3 times as big in Holland for him to be have been top scorer!
Babel doesn't get picked there much, he has pace and good dribbling but he holds it a bit too much for my liking. And he runs about too much.
Personally I wanna bring in some youth, sure start playing Ngog a bit but more importantly the likes of Nemeth and Pacheco could be blooded in atm. Lets face it they can't do to much worse than what's going on at the moment.
Gerrard can't do any more to help us score than he's already doing (besides scoring himself), literally against Boro he was putting chances on a plate for the strikers to miss. Dribbling it about and placing brill passes.
@azza - i couldn't agree with you more right now....
