These guys are both businessmen, and they didn't get to where they are in life by being completely stupid. Gillett is after selling his stake in the NHLs Montreal Canadiens for $440m. Hicks is also looking to sell some of his US assets. What this means is that both of them look set to be cash rich.
Hicks & Gillett should be smart enough to realise that LFC without the new stadium is a severly undervalued asset. Of even greater importance is that LFC continues to do well on the pitch (which requires further investment).
If they decide to maximise their LFC profits by making sufficient funds available for acquiring world class players and also build the new stadium, would it really be so bad if Hicks & Gillett were to stay with LFC for another few years ?

Yes - you complete idiot! Have you been living on Mars since they arrived? Their presence has been nothing short of utter incompetence & has presented our historic club in a very poor light.
Get rid of them and fast.
Gillette can afford to buy-out Hicks now, is that good or bad?
It's GILLETT. Not Gillet.
A man (Rafa) cannot serve two masters.
Better still, get rid of both and get in someone with a titter of wit, to use a very useful Northern Irish expression.
Why oh why did they (Moores&Parry) not sell to the Arabs instead of these to two muppets....?
Yes, it would be disastrous. They would look to maximise the revenue from the club ( tv deals, gate receipts, merchandise ), whilst investing the minimum required for champions league qualification. There would be no ambition to provide extra funding or desire to win the league as long as liverpool are in the top four and are revenue generating. Look at their 2 1/2 years so far, judge them by their actions not their words.
Its like asking the question do you think MPs will be scrupulously honest from now on ?
I would prefer them to leave but we're all going to have to accept that they can now afford to continue ownership of LFC. If they choose to stay then we can only hope they will start honoring their original promises.
.."only hope..." says it all really. We're shafted unless we can get rid.
To use another useful expression we need to know "where they live"..!!
@john toher - I guess it all depends on whether Hicks would be willing to sell out to him, I doubt it, but we'll have to wait and see.
@anfield man - cheers, i changed that now ;-)
@Larry - that's exactly what I'm hoping for (if they do stay)
Hicks & Gillett know the Club is a cash cow that will pay for itself. In the long run they'll make a handsome profit.
What must rile Moores and Parry is that all the Yanks are going to do is run the Club on a business model they had ample opportunity to do themselves during last 15 / 20 years.
shut up listening to the media and other shit coming from bollocks support groups and get behind the yanks. for their "asset" & "franchise" to be profitable it must be successful, we both want the same things, might be for different motives, us success and them money - on field success is the course of action needed to achieve both aims!!
i dont see why there is a need amongst our fans to object and criticise our owners for anything and everything - that is NOT the liverpool way. fans go on about how the yanks have disrespected the club, its not the liverpool way bla bla neither is arguing amongst ourselves and protesting against the management that is NOT the liverpool way.
after whats gone on and having just gone closer than ever in the premier league, i think the phrase of the moment should be youre either with us or against us. its an exciting time right now, the yanks are right not to build a stadium at the moment, itd be throwing money away, money is more precious now and theyd have to spend more of it to build it, why waste 100-200m on a stadium 2/3 years early?? senseless, cant blame two americans for a global credit crisis!!!
love them or hate them, be caught up in the myth that is to be a liverpool fan you must hate the board, facts remain we have gone closer to the holy grail than ever before in the latest season under the yanks, with marmite hair and the troll leaving united it is a positive time for us.
losing them two players would see united drop 4 points, us signing johnson over the average arbelo would pick up 4 more points so the question are we looking better than before? YES!!! now show some support and trust, we are quick to put the faith in rafa no matter what, remember the yanks have been involved in numerous sports clubs "franchises" they arnt stupid, they know how to make a dollar, a successful club is a profitable club,
I hate the Americans but not as much as I hate Moores. That man's utter incompetence is unbelievable. He's the reason why we nearly lost Gerrard to Chelsea and he had to step in the 11th hour to persuade him to stay. Unfortunately most of his 11th hour bids are botched jobs like the sale of the club!
Also Moores is a walking jinx since he took over as chairman we have never won the title! So I am hoping that leaving the board will be a charm for us... providing he doesnt watch Liverpool live.
His actions are inexcusable he never learns from his mistakes the Evans/Houllier partnership was a disaster so why would this model be successful in the boardroom? Moores was the worst chairman in Liverpools history in my opinion
The Yanks have added nothing but debt and uncertainty since the moment they arrived. Despite all their big promises the stadium has not moved once millimetre closer to fruition. Also our annual net transfer budget is no bigger than it was before they arrived so apart from their lumping their takeover debt onto the Club its impossible to find any benefit from their presence at the Club. They plainly don't have the resources to move the Club forward and never did regardless of the credit crunch (which is just a convenient excuse - after all if it is just a matter of borrowing money then why do we need the Yanks at all ??). We could have done this without them and in fact it would have been a much smaller loan. The truth is Parry had the perfect owners all lined up but instead he plumped for these two idiots which just shows how woeful his judgment was. A simple google search on Tom Hicks would have told him everything he needed to know.
what also concerns me is this... yeh gillett sold his stake... what if hicks cant sell his other assets and so doesnt have the same amount of money as gillett...
gillett wont invest more than hicks since he would want hicks to pull his weight...
till this day cant believe moores sold the club to a 50/50 partnership... its just pure stupidity... even with a minimal understanding of human psychology would make you think otherwise to give 2 people equal controlling rights to this club... muppet...
suley you are 100% right. It is plainly idiotic to sell the club to a 50/50 partnership. Unfortunately common sense is not very common.
But considering we never won a title since Moores came to the club it is not so suprising.
I am not sure who is the bigger clown, him or Parry?
At least they are both gone now, and we can get on with life without them.
@walk on + suley + scott d
Some very strong sentiments there guys. I'm not the biggest fan of Moores (much less Parry) myself.
Sure they made some stupid mistakes, but what's done is done, and they're both out of our club now. All that matters is that LFC moves forward as a club now.
I think that they (Moores & Parry) decided on Gillette & Hicks over the Arabs because the G & H offered them more money per share, it wasn't the well being of the club that Moores and Parry cared about, it was greed and the most amount of cash they could get, if you don't believe me investigate the 24hrs in the lead up to our club being bought by the Yanks, the timeline of events tell of greed.
