So long Pennant, it was nice while it lasted

Pennant is a talented player and he proved that with many impressive performances in his first 2 seasons with LFC. However, he lacked consistency and eventually fell foul of Rafa for whatever reasons.

Despite repeated attempts by Rafa over the last year to sell Pennant and recoup some of his transfer fee, Pennant choose to sit out the remainder of his contract and leave a free agent (he has now signed for Real Zaragoza).

That decision on Pennants part has failed to endear him to many fans, but I'd prefer to remember the good times he gave us, especially his man of the match performance in the Champions League final. He always claimed to be a childhood red, and it's a shame he didn't fulfill his potential with LFC.

Pennant was a reasonable player but simply not good enough for a top four club. Don't forget he was bought from Birmingham City, who are not exactly world beaters. He did play well in losing Champions League Final but I can not remember many other games where he dominated.

I think he was too much of a party boy and was not disciplined enough and Rafa was understandably not impressed. I remember seeing photos of him pissed out the front of a nightclub.

Its a bit rough not getting any money for him, but all things considered I could not care less that he has gone. Lots of potential but no brains I think sums him up.

Pennant was a big disappointment who completely wasted his talent.

"lots of potential but no brains" is a very accurate way of describing the fella.

Good riddens I say... He had the ability to go past a man and often looked exciting on the ball but his end product was very poor. I did think Rafa got him working hard for the team when we didn't have the ball but there is no way he could dislodge Kuyt. Our flare is on the left now and Kuyt provides needed balance. And to let your contract expire and LFC walk away with nothing, well that just makes me sick. We shell out £6million for him, he picks up £xx thousand a week wages and walks away. Shocking. What an ass! Clearly doesn't give a stuff about the club and the fans! Do you really think he earned his wages plus the £6 million we lost?

He had his moments but was way too inconsistent and indisciplined to make it with Liverpool.

It really pisses me off that he was happy to just sit on his arse for a year and pocket millions from us fans. If he had left us last season then I wouldn't have any hard feelings about him.

@Scott & @Marcus - yeah, a lack of discipline pretty much sums him up....

He is not good enough for the Reds but will definitely suit nicely in some mid-table club.

@Tommy - true, plus I think he'll find La Liga alot easier than the Premiership.
