Let the new season begin

It's been a very long summer without football, fortunately the wait is almost over. This will be the 6th year in a row we don't get to kick off the season at Anfield, which kinda sucks but I guess it's no big deal.

There's some good news in that Carragher and Skrtel are back from injury which will strengthen our defence. Gerrard is a doubt for the game, but it's better to let him rest rather than risk inflaming his groin injury.

Spurs will present us with an interesting challenge but it's one we should be able to handle. As ever there's the firm belief that this season will be our season, fingers crossed we get off to a flying start on Sunday.

I'm all giddy with excitement and feel like a little child at christmas who cant wait to see their presents. 3 points will be the perfect way to start the season :-)

@Michelle - I know what you mean, with workmates, friends and family, it's pretty much all we've talked about all week.

Its a running joke for liverpool fans that every year we say this will be our year and again i think it could be. Make no mistake United are far more weakened than we are by the players who left. Also Chelsea have to adjust to a new manager and system.

I reckon a draw against Spurs will be a decent result for us. Our form lately hasnt been great and it will take another couple of weeks before the lads are up to scratch.

@Simon - while it wouldn't be the end of the world if we drew the opening game, I really want us to get off to a winning start and maintain it as long as posisble.

According to the Echo - Gerrard should be fit for Spurs.

Cant wait for the season to start now ! Come on you Red men !

@Scouserine - even if he doesn't play, we're strong enough to cope without him. But it would be great to see him play.
