Down but not yet out of the Champions League

Just when you thought our season couldn't get much worse, along comes Lyon to equalise in the last couple of minutes. We're not out of the Champions League yet, but we're relying on some serious favours now.

It's a shame that Babels stunning goal didn't give us the deserved win. And apart from a couple of defensive errors, can't really fault anyones performance. As ever it appears that luck has deserted us so far this season.

Realistically we need Lyon to do us a favour and either draw or beat Fiorentina. In addition to that we'll have beat Debrecen and Fiorentina in order to qualify from the group. What are the odds of all that happening ?

Am completely gutted. We lost our composure and concentration when it really mattered.

Lyon have already qualified and now have nothing left to play for. Fiorentina know they are sorted if they beat them so its gonna take a huge dose of luck for us to qualify now. I feel sick.

.... can anyone believe what is happening?... i am lost for words at how this season is progressing... even in my most pessimistic moods did i not imagine we would be in this position in both champions league and league at this stage of the season... i am at a loss for words... we had 86 points last season people... what the hell is happening

@Scouserine - or maybe it could lead to another Olympiakos style night ;-)

@suley - the Premier league is still well within our reach, but it's going to take a serious run of good form to turn it around...

I think it's very possible that the Lyon Fiorentina game could give us a result we want. A draw is quite feasable as is a Lyon win, but with Fiorentina on their home ground that could be an edge.

However as you say, even for this to help us progress we have to go out and win both matches which for me is the most difficult aspect. If we don't turn things around i can quite easily see us messing up at Anfield against Fiorentina and then blowing us out into the Europa League.

Nervous, nervous times but when have we ever made it easy? This is why i love the Champions League so much.

Where there's still a glimmer of hope i shall always keep the faith.

YNWA.

@Kirsty_LFC - a draw would be nice and could set us up for an awesome match at Anfield, but as long as we qualify I'll be well happy...

Paul no post today? Are you ok after last nights result.. On the positive side Liverpool played well enough to win easily though so maybe after a break and a Merseyside derby to look forward to they"ll put the bad form behind them and show us all more of what we know they can do....
