AV can keep him for that price because after a year they will be worried about him leaving for next to nothing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-70947633168101607462008-06-14T22:46:00.000+01:002008-06-14T22:46:00.000+01:00Rafa's success in the transfer market isn't the gr...Rafa's success in the transfer market isn't the greatest in the league, compared to someone line Arsene Wenger. However i do applaud him for is his knack of analysing his own work and identifying his own mistakes and correcting them. For example Morientes was a big success at other clubs and rafa signed him and sold him inside two years. No bother at all, no excuses at all just sold him and got his money back.
Last season he made his biggest purchase so far and it has been a big success and this will stand him in good stead when he goes to the americans and asks for big money again for another big signing. But other clubs must not think we have big money to spend because this will affect the value of players like Gareth Barry.
The proposed signing of Gareth Barry must only be a good one and if Rafa spends more than fifteen million we must grin and bear it and trust him. One thing is for sure if he does sign there will not be a period where he has to get used to playing in the premier league as with most foreign signings that is probably what rafa is counting on, he will come straight into the team to do a job. I appreciate that when the club spends big money that the fans expect to see someone exciting like Garcia.
I think that the news reports of liverpool being skint may be a good cover for getting player values into persptective but all of the top size premiership clubs would suffer from a bit club involvement in a transfer.
My only regret at the moment is that it is looking like Xabi Alonso will be sold to buy Gareth Barry, this will not help him settle quickly at the club and add pressure to produce the goods every week.
As I stated before, on the big decisions we have to trust Rafa, if he makes a mistake he always spots it and puts it right.

topscouse

Just wondering what "LFC Globe" said? We need wingers and another world class striker. From those we've been linked with (in the press I hasten to add) I would love to see Ribery, Silva and Villa come to Anfield. Or maybe Bentley. The price of Barry is overtaking his potential usefullness to us. Who else could we get for £15+ million?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-46498999457240735762008-06-13T10:28:00.000+01:002008-06-13T10:28:00.000+01:00@anon1 - that'll always happen when results don't ...@anon1 - that'll always happen when results don't go our way, with chelski having a rumoured blank cheque this summer we really need to spend our money wisely on the right players

@dummy - sad but true

@owen - that's an understatement ;-)

@anon2 - alonso has gone downhill in the last couple of seasons, prior to that he was definitely one of our best, but a departure seems inevitable

@jessica - still early but i'd still like to have seen more progress on this front

@deleted comment - if you'd like me to link to your site feel free to drop me an email requestPaul Heronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11048672512906526013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-38626132216533691312008-06-13T09:33:00.000+01:002008-06-13T09:33:00.000+01:00I would love to see more young players given a rea...I would love to see more young players given a real chance but cant see Rafa doing that. Hammill and Anderton will go on loan again, Insua and Plessis and Nemeth might too. Babel and Lucas will probably be the only 2 young players but we paid a lot for them. We badly need some wingers and are only being linked with average premiership wingers.

Hopefully we really do have 20mil plus whatever we get from player sales to spend on new players. Its still early and there is plenty of time to sign more players.Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06240227195740775491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-22170634230754253702008-06-13T08:56:00.000+01:002008-06-13T08:56:00.000+01:00We shouln't be selling Xabi, he's not a weak part ...We shouln't be selling Xabi, he's not a weak part of our team, he's one of our top players. If anything we should be puttin effort into strengthening our weaker areas, we need quality on the wings. Also we have some great young players in the reserves. They need to be given opportnities this season.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-85053442918460691752008-06-13T08:47:00.000+01:002008-06-13T08:47:00.000+01:00Typical fucking English always over value their pl...Typical fucking English always over value their players anyway. Wow he's an international so he must be worth an extra 10 million. It's the fans who have to saddle this debt.

But let's face it, we all want to win the Premiership and maybe Barry could help us do that.Dummyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07366848537411726839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655208675973113222.post-27823742877177993922008-06-13T08:32:00.000+01:002008-06-13T08:32:00.000+01:00Problem is idiots in the media then start calling ...Problem is idiots in the media then start calling for Rafa's head when we lag behind the billion pound spenders like ChelseaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
