@cookie-mo - you're absolutely right when you say that Anfield Road is such a great part of our clubs identity. But in reality when the new stadium gets built, the naming rights WILL be sold.

The advantage of 'Carlsberg Anfield' is that they would be at least trying to respect part of our heritage. I'd rather that than have a sponsor who only puts their name to the stadium.

there is no other club in the world that is so connected to its stadium name more then liverpool. that it's stadium have such great part in its identity.

should the name will be changed - even if a company name will be added to it - the identity of the club will be changed with it.

@ Brink - Maybe i was a bit harsh with the American jibes, its just I believe Hicks and Gillet know absolutely nothing about football and have undermined Rafa many times and neary got rid of him for no good reason. They are simply here for profit and do not care less about the club.

I want the new owners to have plenty of money so that we can afford to buy a new super stadium, not to be rich pricks like Chelsea and Man City. If the new owners are low on cash then we do not get a new stadium, and that makes it hard to match the likes of Manure and Arsenal who are getting 20,000 - 30,000 more people to their home games compared to us currently.

As long we get a new stadium, and the owners let Rafa choose his players and manage the team I am happy, even if they are Americans.

Liverpool would be lucky to have someone like Robert Kraft buy the club--a guy who has made it huge in American sports because he lets people with the most sport knowledge make the most decisions. And most importantly, he spends wisely.

Your post suggests that it's most important LFC get an owner with lots of money. I hope that's not the case. I, for one, don't want Liverpool to become like Chelsea or the current ManCity, who throw around absurd amounts of money to attract any and every big name.

The Americans should admit that they screwed up and sell up to the supporters at a reasonable cost in consideration of the current economy. But I guess these type of people are just sharks loking to get the most in return for their investment.

The Anfield name would remain if LFC was sold to the supporters.

Rick Parry really fucked up when he let Tom & Gerry buy our magnificent club. These yanks have really set the club back a few years, as the stadium should have been just about ready now for next season, or the season after.

Its embarrasing to see clubs like Newcastle and Sunderland get bigger crowds to their home matches. We should be looking at a 75,000 seat stadium just like Old Toilet. This club is easily big enough to fill a stadium of that size.

Americans should stick to their gridiron or basketball shit, and keep away from football clubs. Whoever takes over, lets hope they actually have money. Gerrard deserves to play in the new stadium before he retires.

I agree that Carlsberg Anfield is a cool name for the modern era, and i hope Carlsberg stay with us for many more years. YNWA

Whenever a new stadium does get built, it's inevitable the naming rights will be sold, and I quite like the idea of Carlsberg doing it (especially if they do call it Carlsberg Anfield).

The Yanks cant afford to refinance their loans and will have to sell up in a couple of months so that will impact on any naming right discussions. I guess we just have to wait and see who our new owners will be and what plans they have for the future.
